The term “Those Who Pull Out” refers to “the angels who tear out the souls of the wicked,” and it comes from the Arabic phrase النازعات. It is the Qur’anic sura seventy-ninth, comprising forty-six verses. Its opening word, wan-nazi’at, is the source of its name. Although it can also mean “to yearn for” or “to yearn after,” the root (n-z-‘) generally indicates “to yank out with great force.”Its subject matter testifies that Sūrat an-Nāziʻāt belongs to the early

greatest time in Makkah. This Surah was revealed before Surah An-Naziat, according to Abdullah bin Abbas. Muḥammad Khaṭīb believes that Quran Surah 79 was revealed approximately five years before the Hijrah. However, some commentators date its revelation to eight years before the Hijrah. The opening words of surah 79, in particular, have been suggested by Western Qur’an scholar Richard Bell to point to a later Meccan period, a theory not widely agreed upon by other scholars.

Benefits of Reciting Surah An Nazi’at

  • Grasping the Hereafter

Surah An-Nazi’at thoroughly explores the events that will take place on the Day of Judgment. It vividly depicts the resurrection, when souls will be reawakened, and the subsequent reckoning, where deeds will be weighed.

The way these events are portrayed serves as a potent reminder to believers of the existence of the Hereafter. It highlights the difference between this world’s transience and the next’s eternality. Understanding these occurrences inspires believers to prioritize their lives in the Hereafter over the transient appeal of this world.

  • Contemplating Allah’s Power

The Surah is proof of Allah’s supreme might and authority. The tale of Pharaoh and the Prophet Musa (Moses) is particularly remarkable. Pharaoh is shown to be helpless against Allah’s will and signs, which are made visible through Prophet Musa, despite all of his earthly might.

This story offers a significant perspective on the fleeting nature of material power in contrast to Allah’s absolute and permanent power. It supports the notion that Allah alone possesses actual power and that all else is impermanent.

  • Call to Repentance

Surah An-Nazi’at explores people’s feelings and responses and recounts the events of the Day of Judgment. The terror, regret, and realization that will eventually dawn on souls provide a powerful reminder of the effects of one’s actions.

This heartfelt depiction is a powerful inspiration, imploring believers to reflect, atone for their transgressions, and humbly return to Allah. This emphasizes how vital it is to ask for forgiveness before the Day comes when it will no longer be possible to repent.

  • Benefits of Recitation

There is a reward for memorizing every letter in the Qur’an, according to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Although Surah An-Nazi’at does not have a specific hadith describing its benefit, the overall idea of receiving a reward for reciting the Qur’an holds. Reflecting on this Surah and applying its lessons will only increase the benefits one receives because of its profound and significant themes.

  • Divine Protection and Blessings

Reciting the Qur’an is intrinsically beneficial. Due to its profound topics, it is said that individuals who recite and consider Surah An-Nazi’at will receive extra protection and blessings.

Many consider regular recitation a way to draw divine favor into one’s life and protect oneself from misfortune. Although Allah knows the precise nature of these gifts, the sense of calm and peace one experiences is tangible.

  • Moral Teachings

Moral instruction abounds in the Surah. The tale of Pharaoh and Prophet Musa (Moses) is a classic example of humility against conceit. Even with his great might, Pharaoh’s fall from grace serves as a lesson about the perils of arrogance and rejecting the truth.

However, the qualities that believers should strive for are exemplified by the constancy, humility, and trust in Allah of the Prophet. The Surah provides believers with a moral compass through its narratives, directing them to live according to divine instruction.
