Surah Al Fajr Arabic, English and Transliteration with PDF
Surah Al Fajr Introduction: This Meccan Surah reassures the Prophet ﷺ that the retribution meted out to earlier nations like as ‘Ad, Thamud, and Pharaoh do not exempt the Arab pagans. It serves as a warning about what happens to people who are impatient in times of hardship and ungrateful in times of wealth. On Judgment Day, the upright will be honoured, while the wicked will regret what they have done.

Surah Al Fajar Video Recitation:
Surah Al Fajr English Translation:
- By the dawn
- And [by] the ten nights
- And [by] the even and the odd
- And [by] the night when it passes,
- Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
- Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ‘Aad—
- [With] Iram, who had lofty pillars,
- The likes of which had never been created in the land?
- And Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
- And Pharaoh, of the stakes?
- Who oppressed throughout the lands
- And caused much corruption therein?
- So your Lord brought down upon them a scourge of punishment.
- Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
- As for man, when his Lord tests him and restricts his provision, he says, “My Lord has humiliated me.”
- But when He gives him favor and abundance, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”
- No! But you do not honor the orphan
- And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
- And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
- And you love wealth with immense love.
- No! When the earth has been leveled and your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
- And Hellfire is brought that Day; that Day, man will remember, but how will that remembrance benefit him?
- He will say, “Oh, I wish I had preceded [in good deeds] for this life.”
- So for that Day, no one will punish [as severely] as His punishment.
- And no one will bind [as severely] as His binding.
